SOLO – EWAH

EWAH brings universality to the personal. With guitar and vocals as her mainstay instruments her songs go on journeys from the intimate to the expansive, coloured with flecks of psychedelic folk, alt-country and art pop.

EWAH is an award-winning musician and filmmaker and has completed two artist residencies in Lutruwita/Tasmania with The Unconformity (2022) and Assembly 197 (2023). EWAH was also selected for Green Music Australia’s annual Sound Country Artist Leadership Retreat (2024).

EWAH co-directed and produced a feature film Finding Paradise which has picked up awards internationally. Her practice crosses discipline from acting and writing to filmmaking and scoring for screen. In 2023, she was the recipient of the APRA Screenworks Screen Composer Mentorship and selected for the APRA Screen Composer Songhub 2024 . You can hear her work in Grove of Giants, (Sydney Film Fest 24, Adelaide Film Fest 24). She has also lead workshops for APRA EQUALIZE songwriting workshops for women and gender diverse songwriters (2024) and on storytelling with Australian Plays Transform (2023).

For many years EWAH called Naarm/Melbourne home, performing as E-wah Lady, then E-wah. Her work during this time embraced a lo-fi and DIY aesthetic such as Lights & Sirens (2007) and experimental album GOSPEL DANCE (2010).

In 2010 E-wah took home the APRA Darebin Songwriters’ Award for acapella song When You’re Down & Out.

EWAH has played at many festivals including A Festival Called Panama, Festival of Voices, Mona Foma, Dark Mofo, BIGSOUND, Party in the Paddock, Lightwave and Melbourne Fringe Festival. She is also the guitarist and vocalist for Nipaluna/Hobart based four-piece EWAH & The Vision of Paradise.
